1 · Website
Server-Protokolle
Keine Cookies, kein Tracking
2 · App "The System: Your Pact"
- dein Anzeigename, deine XP und dein Online-Status;
- Chats mit bestätigten Kontakten (jeweils die letzten 200 Nachrichten) und Quests, die du mit bestätigten Kontakten teilst;
- keine Werbung, kein Tracking, keine Profilbildung
- Cloud-Funktionen: deine Einwilligung (lit. a) und die Bereitstellung der von dir gewählten Funktion (lit. b);
- Nutzungsstatistik: deine Einwilligung (lit. a);
Privacy notice
for the website and the app "The System: Your Pact" · Last updated: 25 October 2026
We take the protection of your data seriously and process as little data as possible. This notice follows the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where it applies to you, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
Minimum age: The app is intended for people aged 16 and over.

1 · Website
Server logs
When you visit the website, our hosting provider processes technically necessary data (IP address, time, page requested, browser) to operate the site securely. It is not combined with other data.
Fonts
The fonts Orbitron and Rajdhani are served from our own server. No data is sent to Google or any other font provider.
No cookies, no tracking
We use no cookies and no analytics or tracking tools. We store only two technical entries in your browser's storage, and they never leave your device:
- Language choice (localStorage): so the site appears in the language you chose. You can delete it in your browser settings.
- «hpTorGesehen» (sessionStorage): so the start screen and fanfare appear only once per visit. It is deleted automatically when you close the tab.
The intro video is also served from our own server.
Contact form (Web3Forms)
When you write to us, we process your email address, your request type and – if provided – name and message, solely to answer you or send a beta invite. We use the form service Web3Forms (web3forms.com), which forwards your message to us by email. Your details and IP address are transmitted to Web3Forms. The provider is based outside Switzerland and the EU; the transfer is based on standard contractual clauses or is necessary to answer your request. If sending fails, your own email app opens instead. We delete requests once handled, at the latest after 12 months.
2 · App "The System: Your Pact"
Progress on your device
Quests, progress, character, settings and notes are stored locally on your device. Without the cloud, we have no access to them.
Fonts
The fonts are included in the app. No fonts are loaded from the internet, and no data is sent to Google or any other provider for this.
Cloud – only with your consent
Nothing is sent to the cloud without your consent. Only once you agree in the app (e.g. for cloud backup or when inviting friends) is a connection made.
The app then loads the Firebase program from Google (www.gstatic.com) and signs you in anonymously. Your data is stored under a random, pseudonymous identifier at Google Firebase; the database is located in Belgium (region europe-west1). The anonymous sign-in also runs via Google servers in the USA. Pseudonymous means: the identifier does not contain your name, but together with other details (e.g. display name or recovery code) it can be linked to you.
The cloud stores:
- your display name, your XP and your online status;
- chats with confirmed contacts (the last 200 messages each) and quests you share with confirmed contacts;
- a daily backup of your progress. It can only be retrieved with your 16-digit recovery code.
We use this data only for the respective feature (backup, restore, friends, chat, shared quests). You can withdraw your consent at any time and delete your account in the app (see section 3).
Friends, chat and discoverability
- Discoverability: Others can find you by your display name only if you switch this on yourself. The default is «off».
- Friendships only exist once you confirm a request. Only confirmed contacts see your chats, online status and shared quests.
- Report and block: In the chat you can block or report contacts. «Report» opens your email app with an excerpt of the chat, addressed to us; nothing is sent until you send the email yourself. We use the report only to review it.
Optional usage statistics
Usage values for improving the app are only transmitted if you explicitly switch them on in the app under «Data & privacy». The default is «off». Sent are: start date, day of your first quest, whether you were active on day 1, 7 and 30, number of completed quests and fights, and your chosen goals – without content and without a device identifier. They are stored pseudonymously at Google Firebase (see above), used for this purpose only and kept for at most 24 months. You can switch them off again at any time.
Image search in the wish list
If you tap «Search image» in the wish list or accept a suggestion, the app sends the search term to Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation, USA). This transmits your IP address. The Wikimedia Foundation's privacy policy applies.
Voice input (microphone)
Some features offer voice input. Only if you tap it and allow access does the app use your device's microphone and speech recognition. Recognition is performed by Apple or your browser provider; we receive no audio recordings.
Own images
The app does not use your own photos or the camera; these features are disabled. Your progress and backup therefore contain no images of your own.
Web version: map and place search
The travel guide with the world map is currently hidden. If it is switched on again: only the web version of the app loads the map library Leaflet from unpkg.com and map tiles and place data from OpenStreetMap (tile.openstreetmap.org, Nominatim, Overpass) for the world map. This transmits your IP address to these services. Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors (ODbL).
Location
Only the web version uses location, and only if you explicitly choose «use location» for the place search. Your approximate location is then sent to OpenStreetMap/Nominatim and Overpass for the search; we do not store it. The iPhone app does not use location – the travel guide has been removed there.
Notifications
Reminders are scheduled locally on your iPhone. There is no advertising.
Contact from the app
The contact form in the app opens your email app; the message is sent from your own email account.
Beta testing via Apple TestFlight (planned)
We will use Apple TestFlight for beta invites. Apple provides us with your email address, name (if given), device type, crash reports and any feedback you send via TestFlight. Apple's privacy policy also applies.
Subscription (from App Store launch)
Nothing is sold at present. Once the app is available in the App Store, a subscription is required to use it (CHF 5.– per month or CHF 29.– per year). Purchase, payment and cancellation are handled by Apple; we receive no payment data, only whether a subscription is active. Before the subscription starts, we will add the details on payment processing to this notice.
What we don't do
- no advertising, no tracking, no profiling
- no selling or sharing of your data for advertising
- no real-money purchases – neither in the beta nor otherwise at present
3 · Retention and deletion
- Cloud data is kept until you delete it. «Delete account & all data» under «Data & privacy» removes all your cloud data and your cloud account. An internet connection is required for this.
- Usage statistics: at most 24 months.
- Contact form requests: until handled, at most 12 months.
- Data on your device is deleted when you remove the app or clear the website data in your browser.
4 · Transfers abroad
Some services process data outside Switzerland:
- Google (Firebase): The database is located in Belgium; the anonymous sign-in also runs via the USA. Google LLC is certified under the Swiss-U.S. Data Privacy Framework; standard contractual clauses also apply.
- Web3Forms: provider based outside Switzerland and the EU. The transfer is based on standard contractual clauses or is necessary to answer your request.
- Wikipedia (Wikimedia Foundation, USA): only if you use the image search. The transfer is necessary for the search you requested.
5 · Legal bases for users in the EU
Where the GDPR applies, we rely on Art. 6(1) GDPR:
- Cloud features: your consent (point a) and providing the feature you chose (point b);
- Usage statistics: your consent (point a);
- Contact form and server logs: our legitimate interest in answering requests and operating the website securely (point f).
6 · Your rights
Under the FADP and – where applicable – the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to receive a copy of your data and to withdraw consent (with effect for the future). You can delete your cloud data yourself in the app under «Data & privacy» → «Delete account & all data». For anything else, write to feedback at thesystem dot ch or use the contact form. You may also lodge a complaint with the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC); users in the EU may also contact the supervisory authority in their country.
7 · Changes
We update this notice when the app or the law changes. The version published on this page applies.
